School admissions
The School Admissions Team manages a number of services for schools.
Applications
They are responsible for processing applications for children:
- starting school for the first time
- moving from an infant to junior school
- moving from primary to secondary school
This does not remove the responsibility of own admission authority schools setting their admission arrangements and ranking their own applications although offers are made by the home local authority of the pupil for all school places.
They also receive and process for all schools within Bracknell Forest, in-year applications. This ensures that any child wishing to move between schools is monitored and processed and any child moving into the area is placed in education as quickly as possible.
Changes to education records
The team is also the central point for information on changing children’s names on education records, and all documents relating to these requests should be sent to them. Changes to the school system should not be done without agreement from the School Admissions Team who follow the legal guidance and take regular advice from the borough solicitor.
Free school meals
We also offer a free school meals checking service. This is vital for your school to ensure that you receive the pupil premium funding.
Other services
We are also able to offer SLAs to those schools who are their own admission authority or who are looking to convert to academy status for a variety of different services. Please contact the School Admissions Team for further information.
